Eyelash extensions are a way to extend the length and thickness of your natural lashes. Not to be confused with self-stick strip false lashes or individual clusters of lashes knotted together that are a single-event accessory, our semi-permanent extensions are adhered one by one onto the natural lashes using a specially formulated adhesive that lasts a number of weeks.

Our extensions are very comfortable to wear and are so lightweight that you won’t even be able to feel you are wearing them. The look and feel is completely natural looking and real – every one will just think you were born with beautiful, long lashes!

The Process

Eyelash extensions are applied while you are lying down with your eyes closed on a comfy beauty bed for between 1 – 2 hours. After cleansing and priming your lashes, your bottom lashes are protected with eye pads and then lash extensions are applied one by one with medical-grade eyelash extension adhesive. A single natural eyelash is isolated and a synthetic lash is glued to the top of your own natural eyelash approximately 1mm from the eyelid, so neither the glue or the lash has contact with the skin. It is a very relaxing, non-invasive procedure and many clients fall asleep!

Eyelash Extension Techniques

Classic

Classic Eyelash Extensions

Classic lashes are the original method of eyelash extensions – one extension is applied to each natural lash, creating a natural/mascara look.

Volume

Volume Eyelash Extensions

Russian volume is a specialised technique where between 2 – 6 super fine and lightweight lash extensions, handmade into a fan on the spot, are applied on to each natural lash. This creates a fuller and fluffier look than classic lashes which is great if you have naturally sparse lashes or prefer a more glamorous look. Choose from 2-3D (natural look) or 4-6D (glamorous look).

Volume

Hybrid Eyelash Extensions

Hybrid lashes combine both classic and volume techniques in one set of lashes creating a non-uniform, textured look with a density somewhere in the middle of the two styles. A 50/50 mixture of classic and volume lashes are used to create a look that is fuller than classic but not as full as volume.

Mega Volume

Mega Volume Eyelash Extensions

Mega volume lashes give the most dramatic look possible, with between 9 – 15 extremely fine lashes being applied in a fan on to each natural lash, creating a very dark and full look. The lashes used are even finer than regular volume lashes which means they still feel lightweight and it is safe to apply up to 15 on to one natural lash.

Styling

We pride ourselves on styling to offer our clients their own bespoke look. We do this by assessing the client’s eye and face shape to create their perfect style, while carefully selecting suitable lengths and thicknesses of extensions in order not to harm the natural lashes.

We style your lashes in several different ways:

  1. Technique (Classic, Volume, Hybrid or Mega Volume)
  2. Thickness (ranging from 0.03mm – 0.18mm diameter)
  3. Curl (B, C, CC or D)
  4. Length (ranging from 6 – 16mm)
  5. Style (Natural, Dolly, Kitten or Cat)

Half Set vs Full Set

Eyelash extensions can either be applied as a Full Set (100% coverage of the natural lashes) or a Half Set (60% coverage). The difference between the two sets lies in the density of lashes applied. A full set takes longer to apply as more extensions are used and will, therefore, look fuller and last longer than a half set and need infills less frequently.

Infills

Your natural lashes grow, so they will need a maintenance appointment after a few weeks. At an infill, outgrown extensions are removed and the extensions that naturally shed with your natural lashes are replaced.

Please schedule your infill appointments every 2 – 3 weeks to maintain your eyelash extensions. Our maximum time limit for infills is 4 weeks – anything over 4 weeks is considered a full set.

Infills can be booked by time (e.g. 45 mins, 1 hour, 1 hour 15 mins) depending on the time it has been since your last appointment and the amount of lashes you have left on. The more time you book, the more lashes will be applied and the fuller result you will get. To maintain a fuller look you may wish to consider more frequent infill appointments or booking a longer infill time.

Recommended infill timeframes:
Please note this is just a guideline – retention depends on your aftercare and natural lash cycle.

Aftercare

The first 24 hours

Eyelash adhesive takes 24 hours to completely dry, so the first 24 hours are the most important time to ensure that your lashes will last.

  • Do not get your extensions wet.
    – Exposing your new extensions to any moisture, including steam (e.g. hot steamy shower, sauna, jacuzzi, facial steamer, hot steam when opening an oven door), will cause your extensions to fall out prematurely.
  • Do not use sunbeds.

Keep your lashes clean

Don’t wear mascara on your extensions

Wearing mascara on your extensions will cause them to fall out prematurely. Also if you have volume lashes, applying mascara will cause the volume fans to close and they will lose their fullness and resemble classic lashes. The beauty of eyelash extensions is that there is no need to wear mascara! If you want to wear mascara on your lower lashes make sure it is non-waterproof.

Wash your extensions

Washing your extensions a few times a week helps to keep them looking fresh and last longer. It’s super easy and only takes a minute.

Here’s how:

  • Pump a gentle foaming lash cleanser (which can be purchased at our salon) on to the cleansing brush that comes inside the box.
  • Gently work the foam into the lashes.
  • Rinse with water.
  • Pat eyes dry.
  • Brush your lashes with a mascara wand to make them neat and fluffy again.

Other tips to maintain your extensions

  • Oil breaks down eyelash extension glue. Therefore keep oil-based products away from your extensions and limit the use of oily products on your face.
  • Use oil-free eye make-up remover.
  • Brush your extensions daily to keep them looking neat.
  • Do not pick or pull your extensions as this will pull your natural lashes out.
  • Do not rub your eyes.
  • Avoid sleeping on your face.
  • Choose a felt tip or pencil eyeliner rather than liquid or gel.
  • When removing make-up with anything other than foaming lash cleanser, work around your lashes and don’t wipe over them.

FAQ

Eyelash extensions can last up to 6 weeks when properly cared for. However, they are no longer full at 6 weeks as the extensions will shed with the natural growth cycle of your own lashes. Therefore infills are required every 2 – 3 weeks to keep your lashes full and your extensions will last as long as you continue to fill them in.

If your hair and nails grow quickly then that may indicate that your natural lashes also grow, shed and renew themselves quickly so you may find that your extensions will not last as long as someone whose hair growth is slow. Your lifestyle and how well you follow the aftercare instructions will also make a difference in how long they last.

No, it is a myth that they are damaging if applied correctly. Many of our clients have constantly had extensions applied with no break and they have never encountered their lashes being damaged. Damage can be caused by inexperienced therapists – it is important to have your lash extensions applied by a qualified specialist who uses top quality products and does not use excess glue or lashes too long or thick that can cause damage to your natural eyelashes. It is safe to wear extensions permanently without breaks.

We don’t use real mink lashes because:

  1. It is unethical. They are crammed in cages living a miserable existence and then skinned alive.
  2. Mink fur is naturally straight. Lashes made from it will not keep a curl.
  3. Mink fur lashes can be frizzy after being wetted — they no longer have the natural oil that makes it so slick and smooth.
  4. Mink fur pieces are not all the same in length, thickness, sheen, colour, or texture…making for very messy looking lash extensions.
  5. Because they are made from real animal hair, it is common for clients to be allergic to them.

The beauty of eyelash extensions is that there is no need to wear mascara! You can roll out of bed looking great and best of all extensions will make your lashes look like you’re wearing mascara 24/7 without the clumping, streaking and smudging. Wearing mascara on your extensions is not advised as it will cause them to fall out prematurely and cleaning mascara off your extensions is difficult, it can pull them out and damage your natural lashes.

You can wear mascara on your lower lashes as long as it is non-waterproof. For the upper lid, a felt tip eyeliner is a better option than liquid/gel, and eyeshadow is fine to wear. Make sure to remove any eye make-up at the end of the day with an oil-free eye make-up remover.

Yes. The bonding agent we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise etc. However, eyelash adhesive takes 24 hours to completely dry, so the first 24 hours are the most important time to ensure that your lashes will last. For the first 24 hours after the eyelash application, you must not get your eyelash extensions wet or come into contact with hot steam and it is advisable to wait 24 hours after application until exercising.

If you’ve never had eyelash extensions applied before then we recommend booking a full set 2 weeks before your wedding or special event at the latest. And then to book an infill 3 days before the date. This will allow time to experiment with different lashes, learn proper aftercare and ensure there are no allergies to the product.

Each day we can lose 3-5 natural lashes, but often they fall out unnoticed unless they fall into your eye, but when eyelash extensions are applied we are more aware of when they shed as they are longer, darker and thicker. If you sleep on your stomach with your face squashed into the pillow or you favour sleeping on one side you may notice the lashes may not last as well as the other side.

Lashes grow in cycles – the average cycle is usually 9-12 weeks. This means that the number of lashes you have week after week will vary, depending on what stage of your lash cycle you are in. Some weeks your lashes will look fuller than others, and some weeks your retention will be better.

Yes, eyelash extensions are easily removed by using a professional glue remover and it should take between 20 – 30 minutes. It is not recommended to attempt to remove the extensions yourself as this may cause damage to your natural lashes.
